Endurance athletes, such as biking, running, and most sports have slightly different nutritional needs than an athlete that is focused on strength training and bodybuilding.

Despite the differences, professional trainers all know there is a common truth that all athletic goals share. Proper nutrition support is at least 80% of an athlete’s success.

The Endurance Athlete

The endurance athlete needs to create energy and efficiently, and then recover rapidly.

So how can Super Nutrición help?

First, determine your goals. You accomplish this in someway by measuring where you are now, and determining where you want to be in a certain amount of time.

For example, let’s say it currently takes you 2 hours to run from point A to point B. You want to do this same run in 1.5 hours. You believe with proper training and nutrition that you can accomplish this goal in three months.

That is a proper way to set goals. You take a current measurable or observable fact related to your athletic condition and then establish an obtainable goal within a realistic time frame.

Second, eat according to your goals. Be sure to eat clean and healthy. 95% of everything you eat should be serving your athletic goals. Whole books have been written about what it means to eat clean, healthy, and with purpose. For example, limiting simple carbohydrates such as sugars or avoiding processed meats are fantastic guidelines to follow.

Third, realize that any serious athlete with serious goals cannot realize their full potential without supplemental nutritional help.

Endurance athletes consume more oxygen than your average person. Powerful antioxidants are often in the nutritional war chest of the serious athlete.

Endurance athletes need energy. Supplements such as creatine, multivitamins, and all natural carbohydrates maximize the amount of energy your body can produce when your body needs it the most.

It is also an established fact that that while exercise is good for you, it also produces wear and tear on your body. As you age, it becomes more difficult for your body to heal and repair itself after intense exercise. Years of training or sports without proper nutrition is inviting a future life of pain and difficulties. Runners often have trouble with their knees and back. Cyclists often have problems with their prostate. Knowing these things in advance can offer to nutritionally counter or neutralize these threats in advance.

Adequate protein, omega 3, amino acids, and IGF-1 are just some examples of products that can increase recovery time and reduce opportunity for permanent damage.

The Body Builder

Strength training and bodybuilding contains a lot of the same strategies mentioned above for the endurance athlete.

One major difference is the need to fuel the body to grow muscle.

It is recommended that a serious body builder should eat at least 2 grams of protein for every 1 kg of weight. It is difficult and expensive to always eat quality meat. Most bodybuilders will supplement their protein intake with various forms of protein powders.

Bodybuilders often cycle focus between two goals.

One goal is to gain muscle. This requires more calories and will include extra carbs and protein to fuel energy and growth. This often leads to also gaining some degree of fat with the muscle. The muscle building cycle may last 3-6 months.

This leads us to the second goal, fat loss.

The focus on fat loss shifts nutrition to focus more on fats and protein, with a slight caloric deficit. Fat burners, CLA, and testosterone boosters might be considered at this point to maximize fat loss while minimizing muscle loss.
